The Challenge
The biggest challenge was that the company had no statutory registrations in place. They lacked ESIC, PF, LWF, and PT codes, which are fundamental for compliance. Additionally, their payroll was completely unstructured, with no clear bifurcation of gross salary, allowances, or deductions. Employees were also unaware of statutory deductions such as PF and its benefits, making document collection a slow and tedious process. Since their official registration was in Kerala, obtaining a PF code was particularly challenging due to extensive documentation requirements. Furthermore, a history of non-compliance meant we had to calculate and reconcile outstanding liabilities spanning the past 10 years, ensuring that all arrears were accurately settled.
